- He worked circa 1762-1817 as a silversmith, locksmith and engraver in Kingston RI from a shop in the basement of his house. Made the escutcheons and devices for engraving first paper money for RI in which the "State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantation" replaced the former term, "Colony of Rhode Island." 3
