- He worked after 1809-1811 as a clockmaker in Portland ME
- He worked circa 1812-1823 as a clockmaker in Hanover MA

- Example: Watch paper, circa 1820, in American Antiquarian Society.
- He worked after 1824 as a clock and watchmaker in New Bedford MA also producing mathematical and scientific equipment. He developed a lucrative trade calibrating chronometers for the local ship merchants, but later lost his business when his stanch abolitionist views became widely known.
