    Credited with inventing the machinery for manufacturing "Adelaine" chain. Listed in the 1824 city directory with shop on North Court Street, in the 1836 edition on Richmond Street, and in the 1844 edition at the corner of Friendship and Eddy. 3

    Mr. Adriah[sic] Sackett died at Providence, R. I., on the 15th inst. He was a native of Westfield, Mass., but removed to Providence when quite a lad, where he followed the trade of a jeweler. In 1848 and 1849 he was the Gubernatorial candidate of the Democratic Party in Rhode Island. For ten consecutive years he was a member of the State Central Committee, of which he was Chairman for the last five years of his life, and for ten years he acted as one of the State Prison Inspectors.
